FAQs
Do SIG SAUER Reflex sights fit other brands of guns?
Yes! SIG SAUER Reflex sights fit other brand pistols in the industry, such as Glock, Smith & Wesson, Springfield, Walther Defense, and many more. Some SIG SAUER Reflex sights fit directly to these manufacturers’ optic footprint without an adapter plate; some models may require an adapter plate to properly mount a SIG SAUER Red dot to a non-SIG pistol. We recommend C&H Precision plates, which we sell!
What is the difference between a 'Red dot' and a 'Reflex Sight’?
Not all reflex sights are red dots, and not all red dots are reflex sights, but the two terms are often used interchangeably. ‘Reflex Sight’ is a term used to describe a weapon-mounted optic that reflects (reflex for short) the image of the reticle back to the shooter. This coated surface is most often a collimated glass lens, with notch-filter coatings that allow most colors to pass through, except the specific wavelength of the emitter, which reflects off the coating and back to the user’s eye. The color and shape of the reticle can vary, but the most common reticle in a reflex sight is a single point (dot) of red light emitted from an LED – hence the common term ‘red dot’. SIG pistol optics are all reflex sights, but reticles can be either red or green, dot only or circle and dot combinations.
Why should I choose SIG SAUER red dots over other brands of red dots for my non-SIG Gun?
SIG SAUER electro-optics are engineered to meet the uncompromising demands of both professional operators and civilian shooters, blending battle-proven ruggedness with industry-leading innovation. Known for their extreme dependability and reliability, these optics, such as the ROMEO-X model line, are built with 7075 aluminum housings and available in a fully enclosed, gas-purged design that protects the internal electronics from water, dust, and heavy recoil. This commitment to performance has earned SIG SAUER prestigious Military contracts, with the ROMEO-M17 specifically designed to integrate with the U.S. Army's Modular Handgun System. Beyond physical toughness, SIG integrates sophisticated technology like MOTAC™ (Motion Activated Illumination) to maximize battery life and SpectraCoat™ lenses for superior clarity, ensuring the optic remains a high-functioning asset in any environment.
Does the ROMEO-X COMPACT fit a GLOCK 43X MOS without a plate?
Yes! The Glock 43x MOS uses the RMSc footprint, the same footprint as the ROMEO-X COMPACT line, no adapter plate required. Other SIG pistol optics, such as the ROMEO-RS COMPACT and ROMEO-MDC, can also mount directly to the Glock 43X MOS slide.
What is the best enclosed emitter red dot for pistol with a Delta Point Pro [DPP] footprint?
The best enclosed emitter red dot for a Delta Point Pro [DPP] is the ROMEO-X Enclosed PRO model. The ROMEO-X Enclosed has a 7075-aluminum body construction and a distortion-free aspherical lens, modeled from the mil-spec ROMEO-M17.
Which SIG red dot fits the Trijicon RMR footprint?
Although SIG doesn’t offer a pistol optic that has an RMR footprint, most pistols in the industry that are optics-ready (including several models that come with an RMR pattern machined directly into the slide) can accept adapter plates. And many common DPP adapter plates will mount most of our PRO-sized optics.
What is the optic footprint of the Springfield Hellcat and Hellcat Pro?
Both optic-ready Springfield Hellcat and Springfield Hellcat Pro feature an RMSc footprint. The ROMEO-X Open COMPACT, ROMEO-X Enclosed COMPACT, ROMEO-RS COMPACT, and ROMEO-MDC all feature the RMSc footprint and are direct mount optics, with no adapter plate required.
Can I mount a ROMEO-X PRO on a Glock 19 MOS?
Yes! The ROMEO-X PRO is capable of being mounted to a GLOCK 19 MOS pistol with the SIG SAUER MOUNTING PLATE FOR THE ROMEO-X - FITS GLOCK MOS PISTOLS. “Machined Steel Optic Plate for GLOCK MOS style handguns: Glock G17, G19, G22, G23, G34, and G35 (Generations 3, 4, and 5). Note: This adapter plate is specifically optimized for the ROMEO-X footprints. Please verify your Glock model features the M.O.S. (Modular Optic System) and meets the 1.0–1.12" slide width requirement prior to installation.” The ROMEO-RS PRO has a full industry-standard DPP footprint and will work with any DPP adapter plate, including Glock’s OEM plate. Our mounting plate is only required for ROMEO-X.
What are direct mount optics for the Smith & Wesson M&P2.0?
The Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 has the ability to mount a ROMEO-X COMPACT, ROMEO-RS COMPACT, or ROMEO-MDC directly without a plate because of the RMSc footprint. Another option is to use the C&H PRECISION MOUNTING PLATE FOR THE ROMEO-X PRO - FITS S&W M&P CORE 2.0 PISTOLS to mount a SIG SAUER PRO footprint like the ROMEO-X PRO or ROMEO-RS PRO.
Where can I find a red dot footprint compatibility chart to see more pistols that accept SIG SAUER red dots?

Do I need an adapter plate to mount a ROMEO1PRO reflex sight to a Walther Defense 1.0?
Yes, to mount a SIG SAUER ROMEO1PRO to a Walther Defense 1.0 an adapter plate is required. The C&H Adapter plates are low-profile aluminum plates that easily mount to the Walther Defense 1.0 to mount a ROMEO1PRO.
